Worlds Baby!
Submitted by Steve Brinster on Fri, 2007-07-27 18:58.A month ago I injured my pectoral muscle at the Canadian Open just before the final nine. It was painful but I decided to play the finals anyway and although I finished second I lost more then I gained. The injury side-lined me for the next couple of weeks which included the Skylands Classic (at Warwick my home course), Pittsburgh and the Brent Hambrick. I planned on attending all of them especially since I've done very well at each of them in the past. It was now three weeks and my injury wasn't getting much better. I was starting to come to the realization that I might not be able to play for a long time. But then one day I forced myself to start throwing. I started off throwing only 50ft, then 100ft, once the pain started, i would stop. I went out every other day and tried to add 25ft or 50 ft. each day. Now I'm up to 350ft and I'm basically pain free on hyzer shots. Sooo I said I'm going to Worlds baby! Its interesting because I've never been side-lined because of an injury. Now I have such an appreciation for being able to play at all. When I go to the course now I'm just happy to be playing. Its a great feeling and hopefully that kind of attitude can lead me to a healthy and sucessful worlds. See you on the course- steve
The Last Three
Submitted by Steve Brinster on Tue, 2007-05-08 18:37.The past couple of weeks have been crazy. First played the Philly Open and won in a three way playoff on the second hole. It was a hard fought batttle against both other players and the conditions.( we got 3+ inches of rain on sunday) Then went back home for two days. Finished the sculpture that I was doing for the International Disc Golf Center. John Lyksett was nice enough to commission me to do the piece for the center and I was honored that it found its way just inside the main entrance doors. The IDGC courses were really nice and it was great to be there for such an occassion. I didn't play all that good but the trip felt like it was a success and the 14hr drive didn't seem that bad on Monday.
