Disc 'n Dat Bluegrass Open
Submitted by Avery Jenkins on Sat, 2008-05-10 16:22.On our travels back to the East after the Big D in the Desert, Val and I played back to back tournaments in Kentucky. The second event being the Disc 'n Dat Bluegrass Open, one of favorites due to the courses and vicinity to my parents home in Ohio, an annual tournament that I used to play every year when I lived back home. It is also great to see some old friends that I have not seen in years, great time to catch up on some past DG stories.

Big D in the Desert VIII - Event Update
Submitted by Avery Jenkins on Wed, 2008-04-16 19:28.So the Big D in the Desert distance event was more then expected. Val and I arrived early into Primm, Nevada on Thursday afternoon along with Cary Trotter and Andrew Rich, whom drove 19 hours the day before just to make it down to the event. We drove out to the dry lake flats to get in some early throws and practice our distance technique. We were soon joined by the current world distance record holder Christian Sandstrom from Sweden who arrived early as well in order to get adapted to the desert wind conditions.
Big D in the Desert VIII
Submitted by Avery Jenkins on Mon, 2008-03-31 23:27.The season is now in full swing, we have played 3 tournaments thus far this year. Including a 7th Place at the Gentleman's Club Challenge in Las Vagas, a 12th Place finish at The Memorial National Tour Event in Phoenix, AZ and a 2nd Place at the Aloha Sushi Classic in Walla Walla, Washington. I shot some amazing rounds, including a hot round to start the year off in Vegas and my career best round of 1088 the last round in Phoenix.
A great start to a promising season!
Submitted by Dave Feldberg on Fri, 2008-03-28 18:55.The off-season was very short and exhausting. I began teaching Disc Golf 199 at the University of Oregon for the winter term. I had twenty-five students and I learned that teaching was much harder than I had anticipated. I will be teaching again in the spring with sixty students in Disc Golf 1 and 2.
Winter Warmth Tour 2008 - Chris Sprague
Submitted by Chris Sprague on Fri, 2008-03-14 14:16.The Winter Warmth Tour is in my opinion the best stretch of the year, your fresh and excited for the season and the weather is summer like! I'm talking about the South West; Pasadena, Monterey, Vegas, Phoenix, Long Beach (and in years past Arcata, CA Bigfoot and Orangevale St Pats) I hit the road on Feb. 11th and will fly back on March 17th. Can't wait to get back home! I can't imagine trying to pull off 8 months straight like 2006. It's a MOUNTAIN of a journey!!
Chris Sprague - Winter Sets In
Submitted by Chris Sprague on Sat, 2007-12-08 13:39.Just an update on the end of the season chill that sets in...
Recently I've been working on the newest course in Milan, IL. Camden II will be one the courses played at the 2009 Women's National Championships in the Quad Cities (Davenport, IA * Rock Island, IL * Bettendorf, IA * Moline, IL)
Paul Roesner a local club workhorse asked me to walk the original design w/modifications going back 8 years, the only problem was it was a single 18 hole loop on what was to be a huge course. I made a case for redesign changing it to a 9/9 8/10 7/11 double loop to get people back to their cars and the restrooms. With only 2 weeks until the city was set to start, Paul turned me lose in the woods for what would become a 70hour ordeal.
Player's Cup and more...
Submitted by Lesli Demark on Fri, 2007-11-16 20:55.team huk keepin' it real after the first round. way to start off boys. nate, avery, and brinster are all on the lead card after day 1. huk girl Val stayin in contention.
Wish i was down there too, but with all that we have going on, i haven't been able to play much. workin' workin' workin'.....all for the good of LOVE. steve and I are working so hard to get our house done so that we can move in by the New Years. And, we are also planning our wedding, which will be in Warwick, NY April 25th. so for now, i'm playing disc golf in my dreams.
However, i had a GREAT time playing in September at the Eric Yetter and Sugarbush Open in VT! then we we're off to USDGC, where i was steve's caddie for the 7th year in a row....he finished tied for 7th. one of the funnest weeks of disc golf each year. it was a thrill to watch brinster battle the course.
22nd Annual Sneeky Pete A tier
Submitted by Jack Schmalfeld on Thu, 2007-10-18 05:08.With great excitement I stopped by Cedarock Park in Burlington, NC on the Thursday before the 22nd Annual Sneeky Pete. I was on my way home for fall break to check out the temporary course that would be used for two rounds of the tournament on the weekend. I got a local pro, Brent Mabry, to show me around. I was certainly impressed. With a par of 66 and lots of elevation change, this course would challenge throwers in the woods and in the open. The thing I like the most about higher par courses is the strategic aspect. On some holes I would throw midrange-midrange to play safe while on others I would try to crush a drive and have a simple putter approach.
