A-Tier Trifecta - Corpus Christi Open, Oklahoma Open and VPO
Submitted by Avery Jenkins on Wed, 2008-12-03 00:15.After a long trip across the country following the USDGC, Steve Mills and I made a trip down to the great state of Texas to play some late season tournaments throughout the south. We stayed with our good friend Robbie Bratten at his apartment in Houston. We planned on staying there throughout the week and traveling to the tournaments on the weekends. I had planned to play a few Supertour events in the coming weeks such as The Corpus Christi Open, The Oklahoma Open and The Veterans Park Open.
A Tough Finish to My Best Year
Submitted by Dave Feldberg on Thu, 2008-11-27 14:59.The last sanctioned trip of the year for me was very fun of the course, but extremely frustrating on the course. I was feeling not very confident as i had not practiced at all since the USDGC. I have a lot of other important disc golf related interests that needed my attention over the last month. So even though i played not by best, lots of other things are happening and my spirits are still very high.
2008 United States Disc Golf Championships
Submitted by Avery Jenkins on Mon, 2008-11-17 22:25.On Monday morning following the USDGC Doubles event, the Clash DVD crew drove out to Hornets Nest Disc Golf Course to finish the Clash taping that we tried to complete on the previous Friday but couldn’t due to the rainy weather. Billy Crump organized the competitors for this video - Barry Schultz, Eric McCabe, Brian Schweberger, Michael Johansen, Kevin McCoy and myself for the first of its kind - Worst Shot Doubles at Hornets Nest.
Fabulous Florida
Submitted by Valarie Jenkins on Mon, 2008-11-17 15:01.After spending a couple weeks at home after USDGC, Avery and I bought the tickets and flew down to Florida last Friday. Escaping the snow just in time, we arrived in Florida on a beautiful 80 degree fall afternoon. Cliff Stephens was just as we left it last year, with a few exceptions of some cleared out trees and cleaned up shule.
Viva Las Hollywood
Submitted by Dave Feldberg on Sun, 2008-11-09 20:55.So i was in Hollywood and Ken Climo and i filmed our first disc golf instructional video. It was crazy! It was like a real film production with more equipment, setup, and workers that i have ever seen at any disc golf video shoot. I can not wait to see the footage, but all i can say the mess ups won't come from film quality or production. I just hope that we did our part well, as we are not actors and i definietly did not act. I taught as if i was in front of a class full of my students. I will post as soon as i know more about release date and previews.
USDGC and Colorado States
Submitted by Dave Feldberg on Tue, 2008-10-28 22:29.This years USDGC was fun, but from the moment i got there i just felt i might not win. As the tournament started my hunch started to come true as i had four consecutive roll aways on four holes during the first round. I kept my head up, but i felt very dissapointed even though i carded a 64. Then the second round i played great and on the final hole i caught a bad break and lost focus and took a snowman and carded a 63. Besides that i congratulate Nate for joining the club, his scores were very solid.
2008 United States Doubles Championship
Submitted by Avery Jenkins on Tue, 2008-10-28 07:32.So I arrived in Charlotte, NC on Wednesday night before the start of the USDGC Doubles Championship. I made the 8 hour drive down from Ohio with my friend Steve Mills and pulled up to Billy Crump's house to spend the weekend. Feldberg, Climo and Schultz just arrived that day as well, early enough to get some rounds in at Winthrop Gold, Renaissance and Honests Nest in preparation for the Doubles event.
Fall 2008 - Chris Sprague
Submitted by Chris Sprague on Mon, 2008-10-13 13:42.Well the Fall of 2008 has had it's ups and downs on tour, but with our wedding fast approaching - everything seems very insignificant. November 2nd Kathy Betcher and I will be getting married and look forward to traveling the World together! Kathy was the 2003 Women's Advanced Amateur National Champion, so disc golf will always be a big part of our lives, and with any luck we'll be able to pass this passion on to our children.
The Augusta Classic
Submitted by Dave Feldberg on Mon, 2008-09-15 23:38.The Augusta Classic was a scorcher with a high of 95 degrees. Melody and i have been privelaged this year not facing very many days over ninety, so it seemed really hot to us this weekend. Besides the heat, i had a great time. The South course looks much better and the north had some new pins to check out. We stayed with Scotty O and he caddied me to my tenth win of the season. This is the first year i have won 10 or more events. I had ablast playing with McCoy, Orrick, junebug, and young Will this weekend. Man that kid can rip!
