Summer of Fun 2008

It has been an incredible year...steve brinster and I got married April 25th in Warwick New York- the same town we met in 7 years ago at the Warwick Icebowl- it was a dream week for us.  It was so amazing to have those closest to our hearts there with us on that sacred day.  we had the coolest wedding mini discs made- our wedding day was on Arbor day- so we had a funky tree with our names etched into the trunk as our stamp.   Here is the website address with our wedding photos: http://cart.jonqphot

Pro Tips - Throwing Accurate Approaches and Upshots

One of the most defined skills of any professional player is the ability to throw accurate and precise approaches in any situation. These shots are most helpful when playing long holes that are just out of reach off the tee or in certain predicaments following errant drives on wooded holes when a stroke-saving shot is required.

The properly thrown approach shot can ease the tension and stress of having to make a long putt to save par, as well as reduce the number of strokes recorded on the scorecard.

YouTube

I've been spending some major time on the computer backing up my videos on DVD and editing some for YouTube.  I've been filming my travels since 2002 and have amassed a large collection of approximately 100 hours of tape, so it's going to take awhile.  Right now I'm featuring 8 videos on YouTube with plans to put up new ones every week, so check'em out under Sprague16425.

Maybe you'll be in one?

The Utah Challenge and Celebration

The Utah Challenge at Solitude Mountain in Salt Lake City was epic as always.  Mike Randolf proved he is one of the best mountain golfers on the planet winning by two over avery and by three over rico and myself.  The course is grueling and putting is as hard as it gets.  I shot the new course record the final round -10.  That was about my only highlight.  Randy Saab was in my group the final round and had an ace while qualifying for the us open, nice work randy.  On a side note Mike loya qualified for the last spot for the open , but added up his scorecard incorrectly the wrong way.

Full Circle...

2008 World Championships

Huck life fun off of the course...

What a year it has been so far.  Somehow disc golf and the experience of being a touring professional, keep getting better.  We managed to fit in some other activities when we weren’t on the disc golf course.

Fenway Park
After the Vibram Open in Massachusetts, we were able to catch a Red Sox game at Fenway Park. The Sox lost but Manny Ramirez went yard in his last game for the Sox.

The Vibram Open at Maple Hill

So we arrived into Boston after returning from Sweden where we spent the last two weeks on the EuroTour. The Swedish tournaments were amazing and had some consistent finishes in both the Stockholm Open (5th) and the Scandinavian Open (4th). Our good friend Tim Walsh picked us up and provided us with a place to stay with his family throughout the weekend.

TEAM TIOGA

The Tioga and Crew were waiting for me at the Des Moines Airport May 20th 2008. I had no idea what was in store for me! The Trip from beginning to end was unbelieveable! Just being able to hang out with such great golfers as Avery and Val was an honor in its self much less a great tutorial for my own game.  I'll get back to that in a second, more about IOWA, we crashed at Tanner Duncans house! Talk about hospitality! man Tanners crib is overflowing with it!!! And he has the Sneakiest Sick basement stash of frisbees!!

What a tangled web 2008 has been!!

Hello all! This is my first blog entry and I hope to keep up with things better than I tend to. I am usually running around somewhere, working or playing golf.

I had great plans for this year! Lots of tourneys, lots of travel to explore new courses, and finally mastering the flick. Well, things started off pretty well, with a 3rd place win at Texas Women's Championships in April.

08!

Hey everyone!  Competition this year is going really well for me!  I have won 5 of 7 events so far, 3 of them were A tier Super Tours!  My plan was to go on tour for 2 months this summer, but plans have changed.  We'll see how it works out!  I am looking forward to Brent Hambrick NT in Ohio in a couple weeks, and also the Vibram Open NT at the end of July.  Worlds in Michigan will be a great time too!
