Fall 2008 - Chris Sprague
Fall 2008 - Chris Sprague

Well the Fall of 2008 has had it's ups and downs on tour, but with our wedding fast approaching - everything seems very insignificant. November 2nd Kathy Betcher and I will be getting married and look forward to traveling the World together!  Kathy was the 2003 Women's Advanced Amateur National Champion, so disc golf will always be a big part of our lives, and with any luck we'll be able to pass this passion on to our children.

This years USDGC was disappointing, but was as fun and exciting as it's been every year!  I'm already looking forward to qualifying for next years event (and figuring out how to avoid 8's and 10's!)  Matt Peckham from Innova took care of me all week and we had a blast! So thanks for everything Matt!

The Iowa/Illinois fall schedule is always full of tournaments, and I've enjoyed several close battles with Adam Olsen.  We have tied or been within a stroke of one another several times this year, and the battles are always intense and exciting - he's a fierce competitor!

Now with the season wrapping up, it's time rejoin the work force.  It will be a welcome change to have some security while I play disc golf, something that I haven't had for the past three years.  The first five years of my disc golf career were as an employed citizen, and I found it was easier to relax in the event that you had a bad weekend, as opposed to the thought of going broke one week to the next on tour!  But I don't regret going on tour full-time despite the financial challenges, and would encourage anyone with an adventurous spirit to consider the opportunity to see the World through the disc golf tour!

I would like to thank all of the disc golf community that opens it's doors and hearts to traveling disc golfers! The wide reaching effects of disc golf are amazing to say the least, strangers are sometimes instant family and the bond is universal - and that's just one of the many reasons we love this game!

Thank you!
