The Club has expanded from the original three founders to a roster of over 150 disc golfers from all over the Pacific Northwest. The EDGC now sponsors two PDGA tournaments every year, the Great Northwest Open in April (Apr 28-29,2007) and Eugene Disc Golf Celebration Tournament (Sept 8-9,2007) in September. Both tournaments attract over 140 participants and the Celebration Tournament has been doing it for 17 consecutive years! Both tournaments are also part of the successful Oregon Series of summer disc golf events held across the state. The EDGC is proud to be associated with the Oregon Series since it's creation in 2002. During winter the EDGC is a sponsor of the Oregon Liquid Environment Series of eight Disc Golf Tourneys held around Lane and Benton counties. These enjoyable tournaments have been run by EDGC member Tom Embree since 1993! The Club has actively promoted the sport to new players through clinic outreaches for kids in grades K-12 and sponsorship of deserving local Amateur players to attend Disc Golf events throughout the USA. In 1997 the EDGC embarked on an ambitious proposal for a new 18 hole Disc Golf Course at Dexter State Park outside of Eugene. Through the hard work of volunteers from the EDGC and generous donations from Disc Golfers from all over Oregon, in June of 2001 the first 18 baskets were planted in the ground at Dexter Disc Golf Course. Currently the EDGC has submitted proposals for disc golf courses at Lynx Hollow, Richardson, and Laurelwood parks. Lynx Hollow has been approved and the installation should begin in the next year. In the future the Club hopes to keep its positive involvement with the growth of Disc Golf in Oregon and the Northwest as one of it's top priorities!
